Community Bases & Gardens

We have seven community bases and one community garden across our housing stock.  Each one has its own unique feel and mixture of free events and activities delivered by Southside Housing Association, local residents and community groups.   All of our community bases have free Wifi.

Berryknowes Community Flat

0/2 150 Berryknowes Avenue, Cardonald, G52 2LR.

Opened in February 2019 this welcoming space provides a great opportunity groups to meet.

Activities include: Arts & Crafts (Thursday 11-1pm), Breakfast morning (Friday 10-12pm), Digital Skills Drop-ins (Tuesday 10-2pm & Friday 11.45-1.45pm).  

Queensland Residents Lounge & Park

Ground Floor, 15 Queensland Gardens, Cardonald, G52 2PE.

With over 50 years of tradition this community lounge has a wide selection of activities delivered by the local residents.

Activities include:  Tea & Coffee (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 2-4pm).

Queensland Community Park offers a newly landscaped outdoor space with a cycle track, multi use games area, bee hotel bike storage, alongside adventurous play and seating areas.  A range of new activities will be coming to Queensland community park and lounge very soon, as our dedicated Outdoor and Well-being Officer works with residents and the community to develop a fun and creative programme.

Herriet Court Resident Lounge

Herriet Court, 37 Herriet Street, Pollokshields, G41 2JY.

Located with our Independent Living Community property this resident lounge provides the perfect venue for events and activities.  A volunteer run, breakfast morning is open to all, every Friday from 10-12pm.

Nithsdale and Newark Residents Lounge

Resident Lounge, 32 Newark Drive, Pollokshields, G41 4PZ

Located with our Independent Living Community property this resident lounge along with the gardens are available for a series of events and activities.

The community base is well used by local community groups for one off events and community activities and is also home to Glendale Women’s Café and Pollokshields Community Food Point.  For information on hiring this space please contact email csd@southside-ha.co.uk.

Activities include: Glendale Women Café (Tuesday and Wednesday’s – term time), Pollokshields Community Food Point (Saturday’s Sunday’s and Monday’s – please contact us or the Food Point directly for opening times).

Midlock Street Community Garden

Our wonderful community garden is located between Midlock Street and Ibrox Street in Govan.  The Garden provides the ideal opportunity for people to enjoy a bit of gardening, cooking or simply enjoy the outdoor space.

Our gardening activities with Urban Roots have come to an end, but watch this space for NEW activities coming soon!
